Justice for Women

 Inhumane and brutal.

This has disturbed me quite a lot and questioned the safety of women in the country I live in. I titled it 'Justice for Woman' rather than 'Justice for Manisha', because this is never going to end, Nirbhaya yesterday, Manisha today and may be a woman you know tomorrow.

Victims die and culprits live. India is now CRIME FREE; you can happily roam around even if you commit a crime. It takes close to 10 years to punish these rapists and murderers while it takes 10 minutes or 10 days to kill a rape victim.

The guardians or the so called Indian Police cremated the body to cover up tracks and efface proofs of the innocent woman who was brutally raped and physically tortured. Least they could have done was hand over her body to her family so that they could have at least performed her last rites rituals.

Gang Raped, a strangled neck, multiple fractures, paralysis, gashed tongue, mental stress and may be even more, what else did that innocent woman have to undergo ? Is this what a woman gets in return for the sexual pleasure of arrogant perverts and murderers?

India is never safe for women, never. What would you do if the police who are meant to safeguard and protect and the authorities who are meant to serve the people, are involved in the crime? I would never blame the government for this; we have witnessed rapes and murders in every elected party’s ruling. There are many solutions which many provided by the public when they voiced out their opinions, these rules of punishment have to be implemented. Each and every rapist has to be punished. If he enjoys the pleasure of raping a girl or a woman, the torment undergone by the victim lasts forever and she carries the pain to her grave. The rapist needs to be punished in the similar manner, the punishment should remind him of the pain and suffering of the woman, it should install a fear within him that he thinks twice before looking at a woman in a lustful manner.

Never mind, we live in India where our media is busy with Sushant, Deepika and Rhea while many more Nirbhayas and Manishas get brutally raped. A humble request to everyone from foreign countries, please think twice before you address Indian citizens with 'Ladies and Gentlemen'. If you take pride being called an Indian if you live in India then please be honored to be called 'A Rapist' if you are a man and 'A Rape Victim' if you are a woman.

Don't worry, you can choose to remain silent, provided you remain silent even if your Sister, Daughter, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Friend, Neighbor, any woman gets raped and murdered.

What is left for a virus to kill in an ethically dead nation ?

Welcome to the new India!!

GREED

Greed is neither good, nor good for us.

Greed is the desire to want more, it’s a natural consequence of one’s orientation towards their possessions. People with a greedy mind will never have enough of anything and will never be pleased of what they currently possess. Greed has no saturation point, it is limitless, it has no boundaries and it has no end. Greedy people lack self-control, they are never at peace until they get what they desire, and they want to fulfil this desire at the earliest. Plainly, they want to own everything, have everything and be everything. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi once said, “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed.". Greedy people always compete with others in owning things that they consider as their natural belonging, something that they should have had but accidentally didn’t. Greed is a form of drug, it’s an addiction that takes you to its own state of trance. Like the results of any other drug, enough is never enough, but not for too long. The current generation is an example of greed, we are never happy with what we have, and we always want more. I remember this short funny saying from my school, “God made man, man made money, money made a man mad”. We always tend to forget the sole purpose of our existence; we are never here on earth to accumulate wealth.

We need to understand the worth of whatever we feel greedy for. We human beings are mortal, but we are also conscious of that mortality which leads to a deeply felt anxiety. During a certain stage in our lives, the thought of emptiness kicks in, it’s a feeling that we need to accomplish, acquire or own something before our life ends. This anxiety places a target on our minds and haunts us until this target is achieved and this anxiety is accomplished and fulfilled. Anxiety develops due to a dearth of acquiring what the mind desires. Greedy people tend to accumulate everything they desire for in excessive amounts thereby depriving the person who deserves. Greed is the pursuit of wealth at the cost of someone else's. When this desire exceeds a certain boundary, it turns into greed and leads to arrogance, ignorance, lack of wisdom, lack of kindness and love. Being greedy has an adverse effect on people around you and sets unrealistic expectations. It turns them into stonehearted people, and they wouldn’t bother about anyone, they would hurt others and wouldn’t mind belittling, snub, slander, insult or even kill anyone barricading their accomplishment.

Greed can be controlled but never be eradicated. Greed is a cyclic reaction, the greedy initially build desires within themselves, achieve their desires and once they accumulate their desired possessions, they would have to safeguard it and would go to the bitter end to protect it. At a point they would get sick and tired of their possessions and would want to make improvements to it, similar to our mobile phones that we purchase to be updated with the latest technology, this again develops a desire and forces us to achieve it and protect it. It is justifiable and ok for one to get jealous and develop the feeling of wanting the possessions of another person. The dark truth is that these desires must be limited to our capacities. We take a fancy to live the lifestyle of another person, the essential resources to humans have changed, and it is no longer food to gain strength to procreate. The essentials now are villas, splendid jewelry, expensive watches, and mobiles with the latest technology, branded clothing, luxurious bikes and cars. What happens to all these possessions you’ve earned once you are dead?

We ought to be grateful always with whatever we have, never be greedy for something that isn’t meant for you. Whenever you develop the desire to buy something, remind yourself of the blood, sweat and hard work involved in earning that money you are going to invest. Always, a bit of self-assessment will be helpful, track your expenses for a month or two and categorize your expenditures. This will shine some light on your priorities and essentials. Develop a habit of giving money away, make some commitments to give a certain portion of your earnings to a charitable organization, orphanage or a relief agency. By doing so, it would not only benefit you but will also help others meet their real needs. The Buddha said that human beings tend to attach themselves to things – sometimes material objects, sometimes possessions like prestige or reputation. We perceive these possessions to be stable and permanent and we cling on to them and in most instances, we are discontented with our current possessions. Greed has blended within the society and we have accepted it as a medication to satisfy our desires. Yes, unfortunately the society has sedated us with the greed breed, and we seem to be tripping on it. The society is playing a major role, greed is a seed that is sown within every one of us and it is the society that nurtures it. Live your life by looking at yourself and not by comparing yourself with another person.

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?

Lessons Corona is teaching us

IT IS NEVER TOO LATE

No matter how many books we end up reading, no book teaches us better lessons than our own life.
Well, we are all in a phase of a pandemic attack and are asked to stay safe under our roofs.
We are under self-quarantine and lock down within our doors, what have we benefited out of this?

People curse Corona for various reasons but let’s take some time and realize the benefits it has brought to humanity.
Corona is pushing us to pray to our creator, to our God for peace and harmony across the globe
It has brought us closer to our creator and made us recollect the morals that our ancestors have taught us, the morals that our parents keep reminding us to follow and which we used to ignore.
It has brought millions of families together, this is the time for you to understand your family better and express your love and concern towards each other.
This is the break we have taken for ourselves in polluting the Nature we live in.
It has so far taught the world that there is no difference between the rich and the poor, no caste, no creed, no religion, no sex, no discrimination among anyone. We are humans and Corona has made us realize it and has brought all of humanity together.
Corona has taught us to take care of our health and our surroundings, people now know how to cough, sneeze and how to stay clean and hygienic.
Liquor stores, bars, night clubs, brothels are closed, Corona is teaching us that life isn't all about addiction and entertainment.
Restaurants are shut, Corona is impelling us to learn to cook our own food. We have ruined our health and body already by consuming unhealthy food and junk from outside. Let us follow the morals of our ancestors and avoid consumption of food that is not cooked at our homes.
Statistics indicate that on an average per day, 1200 accidents occur in India of which 380 people die. 80 people are murdered on an average per day. 289 kidnappings take place on an average per day. Do your math and calculate the number of lives that are saved in these days of lock down.

Please I urge you not to misuse this lock down period that is given to us.
This is definitely not the end of the world but this could be a start of a new beginning in your lives and among the lives of your beloved.
The main problem of us humans is that we don't unlock our capabilities, we have no idea on the amount of joy and happiness we can bring into our lives and to the lives of the people around us.
Every day when we wake up and get out of our bed, let us gift our beloved with courage to face every hardships, rays of hope to fight tough battles and above all let us not forget the secret ingredient of spreading love.
Let us all park aside the distinguishing factors created by man, I am talking about borders between states and countries, religion and caste among humans, waters that belong to a particular place and even money that separates the poor from the rich. Let us all stand united for humanity and love.
This is the time that God has given us to spread love and to love one another. Do not hesitate to express your love towards people.

I say all of this to you because I believe in having a big heart to express love and to forgive one another.
Stay Safe amidst the pandemic COVID-19.
This too shall pass.
